Model Tests on Y-Shaped Piles under Compressive and Lateral Loading in Saturated Sand

Y-shaped piles are a new type of pile whose cross-section is like the letter Y: they often used in ground improvement for road or train subgrades eastern coastal region China. To investigate bearing behaviour saturated sand, series model tests under compressive and horizontal load piles, C 1 circular (the same cross-sectional area pile), id="M2"> 2 perimeter pile) were carried out. Comparative analysis was conducted on capacity, axial force side resistance distribution, sharing ratio, bending moment, lateral soil pressure distribution along embedded length. The results show that capacity does not increase proportion, shaft weakened to some extent sand; can effectively improve amount concrete. has directionality, hanging section into may concrete, but cannot give full play advantage larger sand.
